I thought this was a good beginning question that we missed out on! What deck are you using these days to read with or meditate with?
At last count I have 102 decks of tarot and oracle cards. I've been collecting them since I was a kid and I find that different cards and different systems come to me for different things. I have a feeling that when I die someone is going to get a really great set of cards bestowed upon them...lol.
Right now I'm using the Fenestra Tarot almost exclusively. It seems to speak to me quite a bit and I love the coloring.
However, I've also been playing around with the Bohemian Gothic Tarot and the Arthurian Tarot a lot as well. I recently purchased The Paulina Tarot and the Tarot of the New Vision which is REALLY interesting! If you haven't seen it or heard of it it's a deck of RWS images but taken from the opposite perspective of the originals. Here is an example of what The Magician card looks like...
So that's what I'm working with these days!
What about all of you?
My first deck was the Witches Tarot. But right before I moved out of my mom's house, I lost a card. So I left the deck there with her until the card could be found, and my mom purchased me the Tarot of the Moon Garden deck by Karen Marie Sweikhardt. It is an interesting deck, and I like the way the pictures are colored and layed out. Oh, and my mom found the missing card 1 week after I had my new deck and my new house. I figured that's where the deck wanted to be, so I gave it to her. I attached a picture of the Magician card from my deck, sorry its not very good.
Tarot of the Moon Garden is one that I got years ago when I was working in a metaphysical shop and had one of the readers that worked in the shop do a reading for me. She used those cards and, I don't know why, but they made me think of the Beatles and I had this desperate need to have them. Luckily we sold the deck in the shop and I was able to purchase them. I haven't read with them in years but when I go through my decks I also stop and look at them and think they are really pretty. They have a great energy for reading for children, especially girls!
i haven't yet done any readings on my children, but i do them for my friends quite often, or i used to. this group is good for me, as i lost my way here recently and am just now finding the light again. the only thing i don't like about doing readings is when i make people cry. i always feel bad.
Don't feel bad about that! When people cry during a reading it's because they are having an emotional release that they need to have. Often in tarot, a lot like in Reiki I find, when the work really hits home it helps the client to release blockages that have been holding them back or even making them physically unwell. Crying is part of how that is expressed. Be supportive of the person and reassure them that they have the free will to make whatever changes they need to in their lives to improve their circumstances and remind them that nothing is set in stone.
