Artificial Drugs and Spiritual Journeys

i know natural hallucinogens are generally accepted when it comes to spirit journeys, but what are people's takes on artificial drugs? can it actually be considered a spirit journey?

I believe it completely depends on the individual themselves. I don't personally believe that using artificial drugs or natural drugs help enhance or create a spiritual journey.
If it is in your heart then it is perfectly possible to have a 'better' journey than with drugs.
In my opinion, drugs take you out of control of the situation and 'tone down' the journey.
I may be completely wrong here but that is my personal opinion.
